- I easily knew I was going to be drug tested for this modern task, and yet it never occurred to me that one of the “drugs” they were testing for was cannabis.
Every time I hear about a drug test I tend to think it is for dangerous, addictive drugs very similar to cocaine or heroin. It would make sense to test people for the mood-enhancing drugs prescribed by their physicians. Smoking weed has become so typical in my life that I truly forgot it was still illegal in some arenas! The HR department contacted me and explained that I had tested positive for cannabis, and I said “of course! So what?” It was explained to me that testing positive for cannabis use basically meant that they couldn’t hire me. Finally, reality sunk in. There were several bizarre ways I could have cheated to pass the drug test without quitting my cannabis use, although I just didn’t stop to consider everything! At the cannabis store there is a whole section of products designed to help people pass their drug tests. These products are only for cannabis testing, they will not actually help you with other kinds of drugs. There are drinks you can take to help flush the THC from your system though, and there is also fake urine! By using artificial urine you can basically fool any cannabis drug test. Alas, I walked past the display of these products at the cannabis store and didn’t buy one, so now I have to go find a completely different task. Wish me luck for next time!
