The guy did not pass the background check

I interviewed a couple of employees for a position at the medical and recreational marijuana dispensary.

I needed to hire two new employees to work full-time and two new employees to work part-time.

With the holidays right around the corner, we expected to have a busy time and we needed to be fully staffed and prepared. I interviewed several different people that were interested in working as a budtender in the dispensary. One applicant in particular really caught my eye. The guy had experience working in retail and he was a medical marijuana card holder. I thought he sounded like the perfect candidate to work in the dispensary. I interviewed the guy for 30 minutes and we talked about a lot of things. I asked the guy during the interview if he would have any problems passing the background check. The guy seemed quite certain that would not be a problem. I was stopped when the district manager for the medical and recreational marijuana dispensary contacted me with bad news about the applicant. Not only did the background check come back with a felony, but the social security number that the applicant provided did not belong to the same person. I couldn’t hire the guy to work in the store and the district manager alerted the police just in case that guy was a criminal. I spoke with the guy for a long time and I couldn’t believe that he turned out to be a person that was wanted by the FBI in connection with crimes like money laundering and racketeering. I’m so glad that we have background checks for this very reason.
