I have learned a lot about marijuana since I got my medical cannabis card back in late 2017.
I thought that I knew a lot about the plant when I got my card, but I had a lot of misconceptions.
Being a cannabis flower product smoker for my whole life, I didn’t know what went into the cannabis oils that were used for most of the products I saw at the early dispensaries. At first the dispensaries in my state were barred from selling cannabis flower products outside of these small pods that were intended to be loaded into a dry herb vaporizer. Obviously most people like myself simply emptied the pods into another container. It wasn’t the most cost effective way to get high, but there weren’t a lot of options back then for full spectrum cannabis products at the medical marijuana dispensaries. Everything from cannabis capsules to vaporizer cartridges were made with cannabis distillate oil back then and it’s mostly THC and little else to account for psychoactive effects. Cannabis flower products are the true full spectrum marijuana consumption method. They possess other cannabinoids like CBD, CBC, CBG, and CBN and terpenes like beta-myrcene, limonene, and linalool. My sister has access to all sorts of full spectrum cannabis products but still insists on buying vaporizer cartridges with cannabis distillate oil inside. The only positive is that she gets them from a medical cannabis company that uses cannabis-derived terpenes and not botanical terpenes like some cannabis companies. Botanical terpenes don’t provide the same full spectrum experience as cannabis-derived terpenes when it comes to the psychoactive effects of weed.
