I labor a construction job, so I was one of the people who helped build the current cannabis dispensary. Of course I didn’t know that at the time! My crew pours cements, lays grids, sets blocks, and builds foundations. Sporadically my friend and I know what my friend and I are sitting the foundation for, however not often. Six months ago my crew and I were at the worksite digging and pouring and making a perfect foundation for the current building, but yesterday I went back to be a part of the grand opening of the town’s first cannabis dispensary. I know it easily sounds dumb, however I feel like I played a part in opening this cannabis shop, something this town has needed for a long time. Even when the rest of the country seemed to be embracing medical cannabis, our state and local government held fast to be stuck in the past. It took a lot of campaigning and protesting to get the laws changed, even while the use of dangerous drugs was skyrocketing. The fact that this little town now has its own cannabis dispensary is a crucial step in the right direction. I was one of 200 people that showed up for the grand opening of the cannabis shop, so it felt like a special occasion. Everyone was psyched about medical cannabis, from the young gathering critters to the old ladies on scooters. It was festive and fun, and the smell of cannabis filled the air like in a attractive dream! It gives me a tremendous sense of pride to know that I helped build this.
