I don’t like the term “legalization” because it implies that it was ever illegal to begin with.
The laws of this country are made by the rich, to benefit the rich, and the only reason pot is legal now is that the right millionaires are in place to benefit from it. Pot should have never been against the law in the first place, so striking down that law is only the first step, and we still have a long way to go. These unjust cannabis laws have ruined a lot of lives over the decades, and that needs to be set right. Anyone who has ever been sent to jail for cannabis possession should be released, and their records expunged so it doesn’t count against them in the future. When I think about the idea that corporations are raking in billions of dollars a year selling cannabis, while other people sit in jail for the same thing. The government only allowed cannabis legalization in the first place as a way to make money, not because it was the right thing to do! I believe if the government is OK with making profits from cannabis, they can no longer imprison anybody for making profits from cannabis. Am I crazy for thinking this? My entire point is that marijuana is a good thing, it always has been, and the laws against it were always wrong. Making cannabis legal was only our first step to correcting the errors of the past, no we need to finish the job and reverse the damages to people’s lives.
